Privacy Policy

PDF Custard is a desktop application made by TeachSmarts. It is built to work entirely on your own computer, so there is very little for a privacy policy to say — but here is exactly what does and doesn't happen.

Your documents

PDF Custard opens, edits and saves PDF files directly on your computer. Your documents are never uploaded, transmitted or shown to us or to any third party. There is no cloud storage, no account, and no analytics tracking what you do inside the app.

What does connect to the internet

The app makes two kinds of network request, neither of which sends your documents or their contents:

• Licence check. The app checks a small, static flag file to confirm whether licensing is currently switched on. This request contains no personal information and no document data.
• Update check. The app checks GitHub Releases for newer versions of PDF Custard, so it can offer to install them.

Licence key activation itself is verified locally on your computer and does not require a network request.

Purchase information

If you buy a licence, checkout is handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We receive your name and email address from Stripe so we can issue your licence key and contact you about your licence and the software. We do not receive or store your card details — Stripe handles payment data directly.

Third-party software

PDF Custard includes open-source software and fonts that belong to others, listed in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt, which ships alongside the app. Their own licences and privacy practices are unaffected by this policy.
